Tāne Mahuta Aotearoa Ltd has been announced as one of the finalists for the 2022 Ministry of Primary Industries Good Employer Awards under the Māori Agribusiness category.
The Māori Agribusiness Good Employer Award recognises employers that identify as a Māori agribusiness who drive good employment practices. Tāne Mahuta has attributed much of the success of our good employer status to the kaupapa of our LWYE™ (Learn While You Earn) Model and Kaihautū pastoral care.
All kaimahi (staff) that work with Tāne Mahuta also become tauira (students) under the LWYE™ Model. Under the Learn While You Earn model tauira are trained on the job and in the classroom to get their qualifications, all while earning a living wage. Kaimahi and tauira are supported throughout their employment with Tāne Mahuta by our Kaihautū pastoral care service; a service that addresses barriers to work such as social, mental, physical and spiritual concerns that may also occur outside of work.
With Tikanga Māori at the forefront of the company’s kaupapa, Tāne Mahuta is honoured to be recognized as a driver of good employment for its people. The final results will be announced for the award on the 29th of June in Wellington.
